Kincaple Seeks 2011 Kingston Town Classic Win – Ascot Racing

November 30th, 2011

Kincaple will attempt to produce an upset win in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic at Ascot this Saturday December 3, 2011.

The six-year-old finished a gallant seventh of 16 in the group 1 Railway Stakes last start behind winner Luckygray.

Prior to that run, Kincaple had not finished outside the top two in any of his six race starts this preparation.

The Pentire gelding’s best result this horse racing campaign was a win in the Listed Kalgoorie Cup on September 17, 2011.

Trainer Mark Reed is hoping Kincaple can draw an inside barrier for the 2011 Kingston Town Classic.

“If we draw a barrier we’ll have him ridden a bit closer,” Reed said.

“He doesn’t have to get that far back. He’s just been ridden like that because of bad barriers.

“One of his most impressive wins was before the Kal Cup when he led all the way over 2000m at Belmont.”

Reed is also going to rely on a change in gear to prepare Kincaple for his Kingston Town Classic 2011 test.

“He’ll have blinkers on to get him to jump better,” Reed said.

“He’s not as brilliant as Luckygray and those sort of horses but one thing he can do is make it a genuinely run race and maybe take a bit of sting out of them.

“He won’t lie down this horse, he’ll just keep going.”

Kincaple has won seven of his 24 race starts and has earned more than $300,000 in prize money.
