Charging home to secure a maiden victory at the highest level of racing last time out, Elite Belle will have to find an extra gear if to continue her scintillating run of form through the 2014 Kingston Town Classic from the somewhat wide barrier 10.

Finishing outside the top three only a handful of times over her 23 competitive appearances on course to date, Elite Belle was a standout for trainer Grant Williams over the 2013 Perth spring and summer; running second in the Group 3 R.J. Peters Stakes (1500m) and winning the Listed Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes (1400m) before placing sixth in the Kingston Town Classic; returning to the paddock following a strong win in the Listed La Trice Classic (1800m).

Returning in similarly destructive form in autumn, the Canny Lad mare ran second in the Group 3 Roma Cup (1200m) before claiming back-to-back victories in the Group 3 Belmont Sprint (1400m) and Group 3 Hyperion Stakes (1600m).

Having comfortably taken out the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) last time out, Williams is confident jockey Peter Hall will find ideal running position with Elite Belle in the 2014 Kingston Town Classic.

Charging home to stamp his claims as a serious Kingston Town Classic contender when taking out the Group 2 W.A. Guineas (1600m) last time out, talented three-year-old Rommel gets in particularly well with the weights, but is sure to be hindered by the wide and awkward barrier 20.

Claiming three wins and two minors from his nine competitive starts so far, the Commands gelding was unable to register much of a consistent run of form over his first three appearances this time in, but has quickly found exceptional form in running a close second in the Listed Fairetha Stakes (1400m) prior to his W.A. Guineas triumph.

Despite the disappointing draw, trainer Neville Parnham is confident Rommel has the class and ability to figure in contention in the 2014 Kingston Town Classic.

Undoubtedly the big winner at Tuesday’s Kingston Town Classic barrier draw, leading east coast hope Moriarty will leave from the ideal gate 3 and has been confirmed to be partnered by talented Hong Kong-based hoop Douglas Whyte.

Securing several impressive results over the 2014 racing calendar, the Clodovil gelding placed an impressive third in the Railway Stakes last time out and will relish the step-up to the ideal running distance of 1800m on Saturday.

Smokin’ Joey is also offered a good chance of success from barrier 7, while renowned locals Ihtsahymn and Chester Road have been charged with overcoming gates 18 and 15 respectively.
