Talented import Magic Artist was confirmed to contest the 2015 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) after failing to gain an invite to the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup, and has today been confirmed to be partnered by champion hoop Damien Oliver.

Magic Artist debuted to Australian racing in the late stages of the recent Spring Carnival; running on for an impressive fourth in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) before failing to completely adjust to a step down in distance when third in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m) on November 7th.

Oliver is thrilled to have picked up the plum ride on the race favourite in the 2015 Kingston Town Classic and his manager Mark Van Triet told the West Australian he is confident the pair will be very hard to beat on Saturday week.

“He’s been a nice ride,” Van Triet said.

“He didn’t have a lot of luck in Melbourne this spring.

“If he brings that form over he’ll be hard to beat.”

Magic Artist is raced by the renowned Australian Bloodstock syndicate, and Managing Owner Jamie Lovett is confident the conditions of the 2015 Kingston Classic and Perth’s Ascot Racecourse in general will suit his runner to the ground.

“Everything’s gone to plan,” Lovett said.

“He’s settled in well. He’s done some travelling, but he seems to handle it.

“He was competitive in the mile in the Emirates, so the nine furlongs will suit him.”

Posting an impressive three wins and six minors through only seventeen career starts so far, Magic Artist began his racing career under the guidance of William Figge in 2013; transferring to the care of Andreas Wohler prior to his Australian campaign.

Returning to racing this year in particularly slick form, the Iffraaj entire won the Group 3 Premio Ambrosiano (2012m) in Italy first-up; progressing to second in the Group 1 Premio Presidente della Repubblica (2012m) before placing fifth in each of the Group 1 Manhattan Stakes (2012m) and Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis (2012m).

Magic Artist remains at 2015 Kington Town Classic odds of $4 in early markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.
