November 30th, 2015

Magic Artist has had only two runs since arriving in Australia during the recent Melbourne Spring Carnival but has quickly impressed in placing fourth in each of the talent-rich Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m).

Confident the conditions of the 2015 Kingston Town Classic are exactly what the Iffraaj entire is looking for, Oliver told Racing Ahead he is hopeful of delivering owners Australian Bloodstock a Group 1 success in his home town of Perth.

“It looks a really nice race for him,” Oliver said.

“He ran a couple of huge races in the spring in the Mackinnon and the Emirates.

“The 1800m trip for him after a month off looks fantastic for him in Perth.

“They say he likes firm ground too, so he’s got a lot going for him going over there.”

Magic Artist has produced an impressive career total of three wins and six minors through only seventeen starts since first appearing on course for trainer William Figge partway through 2013.

Set on a campaign throughout Europe in 2014, Magic Artist returned for second in a three-year-old race over a mile in April; progressing to third in the Group 3 Preis De Bankhauses Metzler (2011m) before taking out the Group 3 Bavarian Cup (2000m); returning to the paddock after placing second in the Group 2 Oettingen-Rennen (1609m) and fourth in the Group 1 Premio Vittorio de Capua (1600m) in Italy most notably.

Returning this year for success in the Group 3 Premio Ambrosiano (2012m) in Rome, Magic Artist continued to impress in running second in the Group 1 Premio Presidente della Repubblica (2012m) and fifth in each of the Group 1 Manhattan Stakes (2012m) and Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis (2012m).

The 2015 Kingston Town Classic final field and barrier draw is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
